Barbados' educational system
The multi-tier education system in Barbados functions according to the British model. More than 97% of the population in Barbados can read and write.
Barbados has a three-tier education system and compulsory school attendance for pupils under the age of 16 years. In the "Human developing index" Barbados is ranked 42nd. With the "University of the West Indies (UWI)" Barbados has an internationally renowned university. As in England, Barbadian school children are also wearing school uniforms.
